Green Church
“We care for God’s creation by adopting and advocating environmental stewardship that will preserve and restore Creation for our descendants and for all living things on Earth.”

In spring of 2008, our Church began the initative to become a Green Church with a focus on these key areas:
- assess the energy use of our church and make recommendations.
- examine ways to make our church life more eco-friendly.
- educate the congregation about environmental issues, and environmental justice issues.
Our Green Church vision is to be a Church which:
Assesses the energy use of our church and make recommendations.
- Conserves energy and is energy efficient
- Commits to purchasing and utilizing alternative clean energy
Examines ways to make our church life more eco-friendly
- Cares for organically fertilized and pesticide-free lawn and gardens
- Encourages alternative transportation modes (including bike parking)
- Uses ecologically sound non-toxic tableware and cleaning products
- Purchases green office supplies
- Composts produce waste, clippings and leaves
- Lives the 6 R’s – Restore, Resist, Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
- Supports faith-based environmental benevolences
- Celebrates God’s creation thru words of faith, music, arts, prayer, discussions, and fellowship
- Every Sunday is Green Sunday and all Church events are Green

Affirms the Church and each one of us as Stewards of God’s Creation
Educates the congregation about environmental issues, and environmental justice issues.
- Continually educates the congregation on environmental issues and seek new ideas from congregation
- Serves and offers fair trade coffee as well as other fair trade products
- Adopts and restores a spot in town
- Collaborates on expansion of farmers market in the community
- Participates in faith-based and community environmental initiatives
- Supports local farmers by purchasing local food and produce, including church dinners and events
- Supports environmental and global warming solutions
- Expands environmental programs for youth
- Supports environmental justice issues, including environmental racism
