Join us for Carillon Concert, ice cream and a silent auction!

This annual town event will be held on the church lawn on Saturday, July 3, 2021 5:30 pm. Tune in for patriotic and summer songs, and requests played on the church bells. Bring a lawn chair and refreshments. The concert will be preceded by a silent auction and ice cream social ($2 donation) at 5:30 pm. Carillon Concert (free) will begin at 6:30 pm.

Tag Sale is Back! Saturday, June 5, 2021

Our annual Tag sale to benefit Appalachia Service Project (ASP) will be held on June 5th from 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.  We are accepting donations at the Church Tuesday, June 1 – Friday June 4 from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. each day in Fellowship Hall.  Pickup of items can be arranged if needed.  Please reach out to Pete Donahue by email pfdonahue91@gmail.com to arrange pickup. Please stop by the Church on June 5th and find that treasure you’ve been looking for!

Food Drive for Got Lunch, May 22nd, 9am-1pm

Got Lunch Newington is dedicated to feed the school children of Newington who receive free or reduced lunches during the school year.  This year the program will run from June 20th to August 15th. We are looking for donations of the following items: peanut butter, jelly, canned tuna, canned chicken and mayonnaise. Cash donations are also greatly appreciated and will allow to buy fresh produce. Thank you!!

150th Anniversary of Newington Celebration

150th Anniversary of Newington Celebration

On Saturday, April 24, 2021, the 150th Anniversary Committee will present a History Walk/Drive featuring seven properties with historical significance, all near the town center. Hours are 12pm-4pm. Rain Date: Sunday April 25, 2021.
1. Kellogg-Eddy House and Museum
2. Lucy Robbins Welles Library
3. Mill Pond Falls
4. Original Firehouse Number 1
5. Church of Christ, Congregational – Nancy Crawford, Jonathan Tinkham, and Jim Mulrooney, wearing period costumes, will represent 18th and 19th century figures from the congregation’s long history. The congregation will celebrate their 300th anniversary in 2022.
6. 944 Main Street, a stately home facing the town green
7. 646 Main Street – a lovely Victorian Italianate house
The event has been designed to be COVID aware, outdoors or in buildings open to the outdoors (Firehouse and Kellogg-Eddy Barn). Historical Presenters will be ten feet away from participants. Social distancing will be enforced, and masks must be worn. Participants may walk the entire route. Those who wish to park and walk should park in town lots – Constitution Square, the Senior and Disabled Center (120 Cedar Street), and the Lucy Robbins Welles Library (100 Garfield Street). The properties may be visited in any order.
