Christmas Eve Family Worship Service, December 24th at 5:00 pm

Our traditional Christmas Eve family service will continue with a few adjustments for 2021. The children (and parents) are invited to find a costume up in room 207 before 5:00 pm. Once the costume has been secured, the children are welcome to sit with their families in the sanctuary. As the pageant begins, all the characters will be invited forward, in small groups, to gaze upon the Holy family and find their place in the tableau. This Christmas Eve service tells the story of Christmas and we invite you to join us in person or online. We are asking for people to sign up through Eventbrite. Also if your child is interested in signing up, please see the sign-up sheet in the Narthex or email Kara at krussell@newingtonucc.org if you have any questions.

Winter’s Eve Service, December 21st at 7 pm, In person & on YouTube

For those who have experienced loss, the holidays can be a particularly painful time, stirring up grief in acute ways. As a result, churches around the world have adopted the practice of having a “Blue Christmas” or a “Longest Night” service during the Advent season. In the Northern hemisphere, this service is often observed on December 21st, the Winter Solstice, which is the longest night of the year.
A Longest Night service is designed to provide space for prayer, reflection, and remembrance amidst the holiday hustle and bustle. In this pandemic season of life, we imagine that grief and loss will be magnified and nearly universal, and a service like this may be needed now more than ever. We hope you can join us in this space of calm, quiet, and healing.
